Bio:
Jonathan Hansen, aka Jon Solo was born on December 19th, 1977 in Ellensburg, Washington. He started as a classical pianist at
the age of four. By five, he started competing in numerous local, regional, and national piano competitions. After fifteen years
of classical training and competing, he dropped it all to learn jazz.
From 1996-2000 he studied jazz piano at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, Washington. He graduated at the top of his class
earning himself a Bachelor of Music, cum laude. Immediately after graduation Solo moved to New York City to start phase
three of his musical career.
DMS Country, headed by producer Probe DMS, invited Solo in to his studio to play on a few songs. This is where Probe DMS, and Jon
Solo began Spymusic. It's a mixture of hip-hop, jazz, classical, and anything with a melody, yet their are no vocals, all instrumental.
Their first single, "Cloak," was licensed to 2000 Black, a London based music label, and is available over seas. Spymusic's full length
record, "The Start of Something Big" is being released under DMS Country in the fall of 2004, in the US. Another album Solo has managed
to record is his own solo piano record simply titled, "Piano." A collection of jazz standards which is being put out by Producer
George Katsiris, head of Premier Cru Music.
Aside from producing and playing, Solo writes songs and works with many soul singers including Shelby Johnson, Anthony Hamilton, and
Jamie McClean. You can see Jon Solo play in any of the major clubs in New York City today playing either jazz, electronic, or soul.
